Info from Caldwell Park Outdoor Skills Camp Campers aged 8-12 years old Location: Cincinnati Parks’ Caldwell Nature Preserve 430 W North Bend Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45216 Monday, January 17, 2022, 9:30 - 3:00 pm Join us as we work on our survival skills. We will master shelter building, fire building, making some campfire desserts and orienteering. Dress for the weather, bring a lunch and reusable water bottle. Fee: $25/child MAX: 15 Outdoor Journey for Brownie Girl Scouts Cincinnati Parks’ Caldwell Nature Preserve 430 W North Bend Rd. OH, 45216 Saturday, January 22, 2022, 8:30 am- 2:30 pm Have fun and learn everything a scout needs to know about outdoor skills! Brownies will be working on their First Aid Badge, Hiker Badge and Cabin Camper. Girls become expert outdoor explorers as they learn what it takes to survive in the woods, safely and comfortably. Together we practice useful skills such as fire building, map and compass, knot tying, basic first aid, and coming up with a Take Action Plan to earn their Journey. Our full schedule includes daytime activities such as hikes, games and crafts as well. Participants must pack a bagged lunch and drink. DIY Maple 101 Cincinnati Parks’ Caldwell Nature Preserve, 430 W. North Bend Rd. OH, 45216 Saturday, January 29th, 2022, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Live off the land and learn to make your own maple syrup this winter. Join in on the fun as we teach the tricks of the trade for making maple syrup at home. Discover what trees to tap, how to collect and cook the sap into syrup. Most of the program is held outdoors. Maple Sugarin' Time at Caldwell Nature Preserve!

15 minute time slots start at 10:00 am and last time slot at 1:00.

It’s Maple Sugarin’ Time at Caldwell Nature Preserve! Come join us as we tap our own trees in our sugar bush. Visitors will take a journey back in time discovering the magic of maple sugaring and taste this natural sugary delight!

Through hands on activities, participants will experience the arts and traditions of tapping a maple tree and see our evaporator in action! The visit also provides a history of Native American and Pioneer traditions and techniques for capturing, collecting, and cooking of maple syrup.

This program is for families and adults. It is an outdoor program. Dress for the weather! Wear warm coats, hats, mittens, and boots if there is snow on the ground.
